Holly Jolly Blog Bingo … Day Fourteen

Holly Jolly Blog Bingo ... Day 14

Good morning!  It’s so nice to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the holiday countdown.  How about you?  Are you ready?  We’d love to hear about a special family tradition you have.  Add it to today’s post!

Yesterday I took a few minutes to gather my fabric and get it cut for Merry Mayhem’s New Year’s Day mystery over at Planet Patchwork.  Will you be joining the fun?  I hope to see you there!  I’m using an assortment of Moda fabrics from Penelope, Fresh Cotton, and Vine Creek, and Flirt by Robin Pandolph.  The finished project is a 35” table topper or wall hanging, so it shouldn’t take to long to finish.

Okay, let’s see if we can get a bit closer to a Bingo winner!  Ready?

I'm so happy that I was able to get 3 words today. One of our Christmas traditions is to give our kids an ornament on Christmas Eve that we bought just special for them, to remind them of something special that happened during the year.

Only 7 more words needed! So close yet so far away.

One of our traditions is to make a bunch of appetizers for Christmas day. We've got our old favorites from as long as I can remember and we try out new ones every year. We always make a plate and start with our stockings once we get to my mom's house (over 30 - wince - and I still get a stocking!). Then later we call our family in IL while they're all at my aunt's house and pretend we're together for Christmas.

Wow. What a great word day for me. My 'elves' are busy stitching fabrics from their old clothes into 'memories' by making them into little mug rug 'quilts'. They're going to use those little cuties as 'stocking stuffers'.

I still have 14 words yet to cross off my list and then too, I still have the small problem of sending one word in twice so I doubt I can win with a bingo anyway. *sigh* BUT it's still fun to play. :)

Three words for me today: The elves baked cookies as stocking stuffers! YUM! :^)

One of our favorite family traditions is DIRTY Bingo! It's a fun, fast paced game (esp. at the end)!!! Full of laughter & excitement...and everyone has a great time. (Even with the "Dud" gifts no one goes home disappointed. The "Duds" are on purpose to create the laughs..and the fast-paced swapping!!! But everyone knows you'll get to trade the Dud in at the conclusion of the game- for a more acceptable gift!)

I am finishing up collecting and wrapping stocking stuffers today. My children always looked forward to opening their stockings first to see what treasures had been stuffed in. This process could take an hour or more accompanied by lots of oohs and aahh and, of course, laughter. It is a tradtion that several of my daughters now enjoy with their own children!! My husband and I were so busy one Christmas many years ago that we discovered New Years
Eve we had somehow forgotten to open our own stockings. We enjoyed opening them that night so much that we have continued the tradition of waiting until New Years. Our children think we are crazy as they don't understand how we can wait!
